Warehouse Assistant – Job Description

Hamilton Building Supply is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to support all warehousing activities. Primary responsibility includes serving and assisting customers when picking up materials at the warehouse. Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist in unloading incoming material from vendor trucks
  • Assist in loading outgoing material onto delivery trucks and customer vehicles
  • Stage material in designated racks properly and safely
  • Match receiving paperwork up with order paperwork to verify accuracy of incoming material
  • Handle all material properly and safely to ensure minimal material damage
  • Operate small forklift when needed
  • Aide Tool and Vehicle rental operation with use of computer
  • Maintain a courteous and friendly attitude toward customers and co-workers

Position Requirements:

  • Forklift Certification
  • Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs on occasion
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Frequent standing, lifting, pushing and bending
  • Communicate with associates both verbally and through written/emailed correspondence
  • Basic math skills and ability to count inventory
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Building Materials Sales Specialist - Job Description

Hamilton Building Supply is looking to fulfill a full time position for a Building Materials Sales Specialist . The candidate should be energetic, willing to learn and ready to multi-task. Experience in lumber and building material sales and general knowledge about construction is ideal, but not necessary. Working with clients and contractors to select Windows, Doors and other Millwork items is also important for the job. Having pre-existing business relationships with trade professionals is ideal. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other computer software is necessary. Pay is commensurate with experience.

  • Develop relationships with existing and new accounts
  • Follow up on quotes, orders and all aspects of projects for each account
  • Engage customers to facilitate excellent service and attention
  • Work in team environment with other inside sales specialists
  • Process quote and order requests for all customer accounts
  • Work with product specialists to handle project specifications, quote and order requests
  • Maintain a well-organized list of priorities, work space and file tree
  • Provide knowledgeable insight of all product features and benefits
  • Assess customer project needs and make product/service recommendations
  • Coordinate delivery and express pickups requested by customers and product specialists
  • Offer feedback for continuous improvement to management regularly
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails as quickly as possible
  • Handle application of payments, deposits and other transactions on customer accounts
  • Communicate low inventory and stock-out situations to purchasing
  • Resolve any product or service concerns with management assistance as necessary

Skills Required:

  • Proficient with POS systems and Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Basic business math skills
  • Ability to work with other team members to achieve team goals
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Strong communication ability via phone, email and inter-personally
  • Experience selling lumber and building materials is beneficial
